What is discipleship all about? What does it look like to live a life for God? The Well is a discipleship experience with the mission to compel people to follow Jesus and connect people to H2O. Taking place once a semester, the Well is a vehicle that we use to help people learn to live and grow as a Disciple of Jesus by outlining 7 key aspects to a Disciple's life. The Well is all about discipleship and is the first step/prerequisite in becoming a leader at H2O church.
You’ll attend seven sessions that cover topics relevant to your life, regardless of where you find yourself on your spiritual journey. These sessions include short teachings, discussion, and space to connect with God and each other. We’ll connect you with a current H2O leader who has graduated from the Well and who commits to helping you process what you’re learning and what’s happening in your life. You’ll also be given an opportunity to make new friends as you serve on a team with H2O.
Every Sunday from 7:00-9:00PM
Meet outside Swift Hall to be distributed into smaller groups (Look for the H2O Flag)
A Disciple is: A Follower
A Disciple is: A Son
A Disciple is: A Student
A Disciple is: A Servant
A Disciple is: A Steward
A Disciple is: A Missionary
At H2O we believe that God has called us to a radical and complete devotion to Himself. We see this when Jesus said, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it” (Luke 9:23-24). When one truly reads the gospels he or she will see that Jesus does not settle for a half-hearted version of Christianity. With regard to this, the Well is designed to help Christians not only learn once a week about being a disciple, but rather takes a holistic approach that pushes you to live out what the Bible says on a daily basis.
The following are the requirements of the Well that we believe to be helpful in facilitating this:
WEEKLY PARTICIPATION IN SUNDAY NIGHT SESSIONS
This allows us to study together what it means to be a disciple of Christ
WEEKLY MEETINGS WITH YOUR MENTOR
This allows you to sharpen and be sharpened by another Christian in the church and provides accountability
Proverbs 27:17, 2 Timothy 2:2, Proverbs 28:13
WEEKLY PARTICIPATION IN A LIFE GROUP
This gives Christian fellowship and Bible study
Acts 2:42, Psalm 1:1-2
WEEKLY PARTICIPATION IN H2O SUNDAY SERVICE
This provides an opportunity to partake in corporate worship and Biblical teaching
Psalm 150, Hebrews 10:23-25
SERVING WEEKLY IN ONE OF H2O'S MINISTRIES
This provides you with the opportunity to put into practice some of the teachings of Jesus
Mark 9:35, Philippians 2:1-4
COMPLETING YOUR WEEKLY FAITH IN ACTION STEP
This gives you the opportunity to put into practice the things you are learning
James 1:22-25, Matthew 7:24-27
Since the Well is only seven weeks long, we expect that you don’t miss more than one Well session and that you don’t miss more than two weeks of any of the other components. If this is a potential problem, please talk to us and we can see about exceptions. We believe the Well experience is best when each member is committed to spiritual growth.
